In beggining 2009, SE launch their new phone : IDOU.
This phone is Symbian Foundation OS device with 12.1 megapixel camera and a large 3.5-inch touchscreen display.
Sony Ericsson claimed that phone are device in the new category. Head of Global Marketing and Vice President of Sony Ericsson Lennard Hoornik said: "Everything that we have done to date has brought us to this point - we created the music phone category in 2005 selling over 100 million Walkman phones and we are now ready to unveil the next chapter in the evolution of the company - Entertainment Unlimited - giving consumers unlimited opportunities to share their entertainment experiences."
With the new phone, you will be able to take pictures with the 12.1-megapixel camera (with Xenon flash), view high quality video in true 16:9 widescreen format, tap directly into your favourite content and download content from an enhanced PlayNow service that will include a wide variety of media.
The downside? The 'Idou' won't be released until the second half of 2009 and the full specifications aren't yet finalised. Still, we're impressed with the camera resolution and the other promises - and being based on the new user interface that will be similar to the existing Series 60 5th Edition UI from the Nokia Tube and the forthcoming Nokia N97, it should allow Sony Ericsson back into the smartphone market with a vengeance (that is, if you were like us and not that blown away by the X1)
